The authors investigated whether rural and urban differences in health-related quality of life among veterans held true with common psychiatric disorders.  They found that, although less likely than their urban counterparts to experience psychiatric disorders, veterans in rural settings with mental disorders had a greater disease burden and sustained higher health care costs.
